'House Of Fun' was released as a one-off single in 1982 and went to #1 in the UK, staying in the chart for nine weeks. The song is arguably the best example of Madness' "nutty sound", a combination of fairground vaudeville, ska and out-and-out pop.

Episode 35: Winchester Cathedral by the New Vaudeville Band

A certain podcast host loves some affected man-singing voices, but does she love fake megaphone songs? Tune in this week for a novelty hit plus random songs from the 60s with vaudevillian affect.

In other news, we'll be at the Baltimore Record Bazaar on Sunday, February 25th! Noon – 6 PM at the Wind Up Space. RSVP and details on Facebook!

Episode 14: Dancing at the Grosvenor House by Sydney Lipton

This week we deliver a charming collection of foxtrots and such for dancing or for a simply sophisticated evening at home via London's long-time dance band leader, Sydney Lipton.

Princess Elizabeth (later Queen Elizabeth II) with actor John Mills and Princess Margaret arriving to Grosvenor House to attend National Playing Fields ball. Likely Sydney Lipton's band playing at the end of this clip.

Django Reinhardt and straight vs. hot jazz.
